Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recognizes Biden as President-elect

This week in congress, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made a speech on the Senate floor recognizing Joe Biden as the President-elect and congratulating him. McConnell told his fellow members of Congress: "Many of us hoped that the presidential election would yield a different result, but our system of government has processes to determine who will be sworn in on Jan. 20. The Electoral College has spoken. So today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden." Shortly there after this speech, President Trump and his allies turned on McConnell saying that he "caved" to the mob and "China". President Trump himself even tweeted out the media's story about how he and his allies were turning on McConnell so clearly President Trump is displeased with Sen. McConnell...

Why is this statement by Sen. McConnell significant or why should you even care? Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is just that, the majority leader of the Senate and oversees the Republicans control of the Senate and with that if McConnell is already recognizing Joe Biden as the President-elect, what do you think that means come January 6th when Congress presides over the Electoral College's decision (in which they did nominate Joe Biden as the President-elect)? It's evident now that the Republican's most powerful member of the Senate is not leaning in President Trump's favor, meaning it does not look good for President Trump's chances of overturning or halting the transition of power.

Many hardcore Trump supporters are NOT happy about that declaration by Sen. McConnell. I am not one of them (or actually even a hardcore "Trumper"). Some of you will not like what I'm about to say but I'm not going to lie to you or push some ring wing agenda or talking points I do not believe. I have always been authentic in my thoughts and beliefs and now will be no different. I think Sen. McConnell handled this appropriately and respectfully. I also think it's time President Trump accepts the results of the election. Now, I understand some of you will start screaming about voter fraud and how the election was "stolen" and sure maybe there was voter fraud to a degree but was it enough to change the results of the election? If so, why don't we have evidence or proof of that? I'm not saying voter fraud is not possible, what I'm saying is in order for you to overturn these results you NEED not just SAY that there is voter fraud and you NEED widespread proof of that. Without that proof, you will not change anything and you need to face the music sort of speak. With that being said there comes a time President Trump needs to move on. He should focus his energy on making a comeback, running again in 2024, not fighting what appears to be now a lost cause. My advice to him would be don't go out a sore loser if you have hopes of making a comeback in 2024 because you'll come across as just a sore loser and no one likes a sore loser. As my good friend VB would highlight, there is a great display of sportsmanship in hockey when after the Stanley Cup Finals have concluded they shake hands on the ice and even the losers acknowledge their opponent's win. Be like that President Trump, don't skate off the ice in a tantrum. There is great respect in a man who can graciously accept a defeat...and use his passion to make a comeback.
